Behm accepts new role with Redeemer

If there is one lesson Vincent Behm has tried to impart to his students, it’s the importance of learning and growth.

Now it is time for Behm, the principal of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy in Canmore for the last eight years, to grow.

On May 1, Behm will leave Canmore to take on a new role as associate superintendent for Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools in Okotoks.

“I’ve had just a fantastic experience,” said Behm. “I’m really going to miss the daily interactions with parents and students.”

Particularly, Behm said, he is going to miss watching students he had met in kindergarten as they progress through their education.

But growth doesn’t come easily, according to Behm. It is the result of lifelong reflection on both our struggles and successes.

“What we teach our students is that we learn from our challenges,” said Behm. “That has been a part of my career as well.”

Behm will put his 20 years of education experience towards his new role of overseeing human resources and working with new teachers across the school board’s 16 schools in southern Alberta.

Along with his wife, who also works at Our Lady of the Snows, Behm is currently busy getting ready to relocate and preparing to transfer administration of the school over to the current vice-principal, Phil Puruunen.
