The 17th annual Banff National Park planning forum will be held in Banff on Nov. 19- 20.

The forum is an opportunity for the public to review Parks Canada’s progress in implementing the park management plan and to examine the park’s future.

“We encourage anyone interested in discovering how Banff National Park is managed to attend the planning forum and become involved in their park,” said Dave McDonough, superintendent of Banff National Park.

“The forum is an opportunity for Parks Canada to highlight the projects, achievements, collaborations and partnerships undertaken with our stakeholders and the public, and demonstrates our international leadership in conservation, restoration and connecting Canadians to nature.”

This year’s forum will focus on Parks Canada’s progress toward implementing the park management plan. It will highlight Parks Canada’s bear management program as well as its fire program.

The forum begins with a community open house in the Story Hall of the Cave and Basin National Historic Site from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 19). Join park managers and experts over conversation about some of the park’s richest stories, projects and achievements.

The forum continues with an evening year-in-review discussion and question-and-answer period hosted by the superintendents from the Banff and Lake Louise, Yoho, Kootenay field units on Thursday (Nov. 20), at Harkin Hall at the Banff administration building from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. This informal session includes highlights from the past year.
