A blaze at the Canmore fire hall today (March 12) will not hinder the department's ability to respond to fire and rescue calls in the community, said a Canmore representative.

An investigation is underway to find the cause of a fire inside the hall earlier this morning. At 7 a.m., a fire was discovered in the office portion of the 10th Street fire station and was controlled by 7:45 a.m. No injuries were reported.

“The fire was in the office portion where nobody was overnight,” said Sally Caudill, manager of communications for the Town of Canmore. “Thankfully nobody was in the area or impacted at all.”

Caudill added that the fire's damage is limited to the office portion of the building.

A portion of 10th Street was closed during the incident, but has since been reopened.
