31 years

1) I feel it is my civic duty to put back into a community that has been my home for such a long time.

2) I am at a point in my life now that I have the time to dedicate to this task.

3) I believe that my past 30 years of living here will help guide decisions that will effect the coming 30 years

1) As an artist I have an open mind. Sometimes a creative solution is needed.

2) As an entrepreneur I am constructive. I understand that all ideas must have a starting point that then move forward towards a goal.

3) I am a family man. I have been well educated in the art of compromise, team participation, respect, and understanding.

4) I am a grateful person. I consider myself fortunate to live in Canmore. If elected, I would do what I could to make Canmore home to all that wish to call it home.

5) I am humble. I don't think that I have all the answers. I am more than happy to listen to those who think they do. I truly believe in Einstein's quote. "I can only see as far as do because of the shoulders of giants that I have stood on"

6) I am an outdoorsman. I hike, bike, fish, camp…I understand that we have to protect the wild if we don't want to loose it. But I also understand that it is this spectacular nature that brings people like myself to this area.

1)Housing

2)Human and wildlife harmony

3)Quality of life

4)Facilities for residents of Canmore

5)Making downtown function properly when flooded with tourist.

6)Economic diversity

The greatest challenge is representing everyone. Some folks have lived here for a long time and would like to see Canmore remain a small town and not become a small city. Others have moved from large cities and see Canmore as a cute little town with plenty of room for growth. Some people see Canmore as business opportunity, others as a retirement location. Some people in Canmore have a lot of money and can easily call Canmore home. Other people have an extremely hard time making a go of it here. This list of differences could go on for some time…….but the point is- How do we see our Canmore? If we can figure that out, then,… councillors will have a much easier time of steering this ship.

If elected, I would like to think of myself as the approachable councillor. One day a week if possible (for the full term) I will make myself available for discussions. I will be at elevation place every Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m. This will start this Wednesday Sept 20th. I will be posting views and ideas on my Facebook page Chris Dmytriw. And I can be reached on my cell phone 403-609-0711. I would also like to have group discussions during the campaign. If anyone would like to put together a group I would be extremely grateful. Let me know when and where, and I'll be there.
