A fight over who was the prettiest girl at the bar wound up in court last week.

Alexandra Corness pleaded guilty Wednesday (March 9) in Canmore Provincial Court to a single charge of assault.

Crown prosecutor Cary Rodin told Judge John Reilly Banff RCMP were called to the Aurora nightclub on Sept. 11, 2010 by bar staff for a dispute that occurred in the women’s washroom.

“It was an argument about who was the prettiest in the bar that led to the accused punching the complainant… there were minor injuries,” Rodin said.

Because Corness did not have a criminal record, the Crown did not oppose a conditional discharge for the 23-year-old.

Rodin asked for a nine-month to one-year term of probation, 40 hours of community services, counselling as directed for alcohol abuse and anger management and a letter of apology.

Reilly sentenced Corness to a nine-month conditional discharge with 30 hours of community service with requirements to write an apology letter and seek assessment, treatment and counseling as directed by probation.
