Major crimes investigating death of 28-year-old man

An investigation into the death of a 28-year-old Stoney Nakoda man is underway by the RCMP Major Crimes Unit. Cochrane RCMP identified Wilfred Junior Amos of Morley as the deceased. On Friday (Jan. 22) at about 5:25 a.m.

An investigation into the death of a 28-year-old Stoney Nakoda man is underway by the RCMP Major Crimes Unit.

Cochrane RCMP identified Wilfred Junior Amos of Morley as the deceased.

On Friday (Jan. 22) at about 5:25 a.m., RCMP members were dispatched to assist EMS at a Stoney Nakoda First Nations residence where a man was reportedly in medical distress.

Upon arrival, Amos was pronounced dead at the scene at a home in Morley.

An autopsy is being held Monday (Jan. 25) in Calgary. The scene remains secure pending the autopsy.

Another man at the residence was arrested on charges not related to the incident, and has since been released.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit - South has taken over the investigation, with assistance from the RCMP Forensic Investigation Section and Cochrane detachment.
