Police report

On Jan. 21, while on patrol, police observed a suspicious vehicle on Bow Valley trail in Canmore. The vehicle was pulled over and an impaired driving investigation initiated.

The vehicle was pulled over and an impaired driving investigation initiated. The driver was deemed not to be impaired, but further checks revealed that his drive’rs licence was disqualified. The male was charged with driving while disqualified and will appear in Canmore Provincial Court, March 16.

On Jan. 22, at approximately 1:58 a.m. police observed an intoxicated male having difficulty walking on 8th street in Canmore. He stated he was heading to another bar, but was arrested for public intoxication and lodged in cells.

Also on Jan. 22, at 3:50 p.m., RCMP received a report of an intoxicated male in front of a store on Railway avenue. A male was located and arrested for public intoxication. Further checks revealed he was currently on conditions not to consume alcohol. Paget Poucette of Morley was charged with failing to comply and was remanded in custody until Jan. 24.

On Jan. 23, Canmore RCMP received a call that a male known to police to have conditions not to consume alcohol was drinking at the Canmore Hotel. He was located and charged with failing to comply with conditions and released for court on March 23.

Also on Jan. 23, police observed a vehicle making a U-turn on 10th street that almost ran into a snow bank in the centre of the street. The vehicle then made a right turn through a red light. A traffic stop was made and the male driver was found to be impaired.

On Jan. 23, while patrolling Highway 1A, police observed a vehicle with a licence plate that did not match. A traffic stop was conducted and a male driver arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Further investigation lead to the male being charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and driving without registration.

He is to appear in Canmore Provincial Court March 16.
