While most people in the Bow Valley have been enjoying the summer weather or working hard during the height of the tourist season, there is also a provincial leadership campaign going on to choose the next premier of Alberta.

The Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta will choose its next leader on Sept. 6 from three candidates running for the coveted position after Alison Redford resigned earlier this year.

Ric McIvor, Thomas Lukaszuk and Jim Prentice are on the ballot and if Bow Valley residents wish to vote they must be registered before midnight on Sept. 3 to do so.

Memberships to the PC Party are available online at www.pcalberta.org and once purchased for $25, a personal identification number will be provided in order to vote.

Voting can be done online anytime between 6 a.m. on Sept. 5 and 6 p.m. on Sept. 6, by phone or in person at a polling station that will be set up in Canmore on Sept. 6.

The poll will be at the Holiday Inn on Palliser Trail from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
