Cochrane RCMP arrested four people and shut down a chop shop after executing a search warrant in Morley on March 23.

RCMP members were doing patrols in the area in an effort to curb auto thefts when they pulled onto a property and located a suspect sitting inside a vehicle with a stolen licence plate and firearm.

While police were speaking to the suspect, another vehicle that also turned out to be stolen pulled onto the property. Police arrested both suspects, who were subsequently taken into custody.

“What we know so far is that there are several stolen vehicles on the property as well as a large amount of car parts inside the residence,” stated RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff in a press release.

“It appears some of the vehicles on the property are in the process of having parts removed.”

Upon further investigation, police recovered three stolen vehicles, six firearms and a large amount of stolen tools and electronics.

Aldina Snow, 33, of Morley, faces one count of being in possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, one count of resist/obstruct a police officer, two counts of unsafe storage of firearms, four counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, plus three additional charges. Snow has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on March 27.

Stacey House, 44, of Morley, has been charged with one count of unsafe storage of a firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm and one count of resist/obstruct a police officer. House is scheduled to appear in court on April 3.

Mackenzie Twoyoungmen, 24, of Morley has been charged with one count of being in possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of careless use of a firearm and two counts of failing to comply with conditions. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 27.

The identity and charges against a fourth person are pending and none of the allegations have been proven in court.

The operation in Morley comes a day after RCMP stopped another stolen vehicle with the help of Onstar on the Trans-Canada Highway near Morley.

Police arrested three men and found several weapons and other stolen property inside the vehicle.

The three suspects are from Morley and face multiple charges, including weapons and property offences, as well as breaches of conditions. Their names will be released once charges are laid, according to police.

Cochrane RCMP said they are working closely with other agencies to assist with other offences related to these individuals.

“Many of theses suspects jump from jurisdiction to jurisdiction when committing crime,” said Savinkoff. “It’s important that all agencies form close partnerships to ensure we are sharing information and helping each other in reducing crime in our communities.”

Derwin Simeon, 20, of Morley, has been charged with two counts of being in possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, nine counts of fail to comply with an undertaking or recognizance or probation order and four counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Stephawn Hunter, 22, of Morley, has been charged with three counts of being in possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and four counts of being in possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, plus six additional charges.
