Read posts career best
Canadian young gun Erik Read had the best result of his career, finishing 23rd in the world cup slalom in Wengen.
“I’m back in the slalom points for my best finish on the world cup. Fast sections with little mistakes have me excited for the next opportunity,” Read wrote after the result.
Read finished two seconds behind winner Henrik Kristoffersen of Norway. Trevor Philp of Canmore did not finish his second run.
Read attended the University of Denver, and is the son of Crazy Canuck Ken Read.

Monod named Freeskier of Year
Banff’s Tatum Monod’s free ski career continues to surge, as she was voted female free skier of the year by readers of Freeski magazine. Monod, 24, was voted Skier of the Year – People’s Choice award, defeating Angel Collison by a mere 13 votes.
“I’m totally blown away with all the support. This definitely gives me the motivation to crush it as hard as I can this season,” Monod said.
Monod’s Level 1 film appearance was well received this season, as she managed to ski in Alaska for the first time in her career. Sponsored by Red Bull, The North Face and Monod Sports in Banff, she will attend an invite-only Red Bull competition next month in Revelstoke.
