A Calgary woman is dead following a scrambling accident on Mount Temple near Lake Louise on Friday (Sept. 25).

According to Lake Louise RCMP, two individuals, a man and a woman, were descending from the 3,544m peak on the most popular route when the accident occurred. The female scrambler died from injuries sustained in the fall. Heavy snowfall and high winds likely played a role in the incident, police said.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Office of the Medical Examiner. Police are not releasing the identity of the woman and next of kin have been notified.

This is the second serious scrambling accident on Mount Temple this year.
