Two motorcyclists injured on 1A Highway

Two motorcyclists are in hospital, one taken by STARS air ambulance, after they both lost control on the 1A Highway West of Morley Road on Friday evening (April 8).

Two motorcyclists are in hospital, one taken by STARS air ambulance, after they both lost control on the 1A Highway West of Morley Road on Friday evening (April 8). Cochrane RCMP closed the highway in both directions when they responded to the scene 9.8 kilometres West of Morley Road. According to an RCMP press release, the preliminary investigation revealed two motorcyclists were travelling together when one lost control, left the road ejecting the rider some distance. The second motorcyclist reacted by braking, stated the RCMP, and they also lost control, hitting the guard rail. The second motorcyclists was airlifted by STARS to Foothills Hospital with serious injuries and the first was taken by ambulance with non life-threatening injuries. One lane of the 1A Highway has been reopened and police are on scene working on opening both as of 8 p.m.
