Woman suffers 60-metre fall near Mount Daly

A 53-year-old woman was seriously injured after falling 60 metres while scrambling the northwest side of Mount Daly near the Waputik Icefield. The accident happened on August 23 at about 7 p.m.

A 53-year-old woman was seriously injured after falling 60 metres while scrambling the northwest side of Mount Daly near the Waputik Icefield.

The accident happened on August 23 at about 7 p.m. as she was descending Mount Daly near the boundary of Banff and Yoho national parks.

Officials said she suffered serious head injuries and was flown to a Calgary hospital by STARS.

“She was traversing a scree slope when she slipped,” wrote Tania Peters, a spokesperson for Lake Louise, Yoho and Kootenay, in an email.
