AJHL UPATE – Dragons blank Eagles

The Drumheller Dragons made short work of the Canmore Eagles in Game 3 of their AJHL second round playoff series with a 4-0 shutout win on Monday (March 17) in Drumheller.

The Drumheller Dragons made short work of the Canmore Eagles in Game 3 of their AJHL second round playoff series with a 4-0 shutout win on Monday (March 17) in Drumheller.

Goaltender Cam Barnes got the start in net for the Eagles after Ryan Ferguson was knocked out of action in the Eagles’ 4-2 win in Game 2 in Canmore, Saturday (March 15). Dragons forward Alex Bechtold made no effort to avoid Ferguson when he crashed the net in Game 2, and ended up spraining Ferguson’s ankle.

Barnes stopped 24 of 28 shots in Game 3, but the Eagles offence struggled mightily. The Eagles were 0-10 on the powerplay and only managed 22 shots on Dragons goaltender Curtis Skip. Christopher Rauckman scored twice for Drumheller in the win.

The teams meet again Tuesday (March 18) night for Game 4 in Drumheller, while Game 5 is slated for Friday (March 21) in Drumheller. If necessary, Game 6 will be played in Canmore on Sunday (March 23) and Game 7 is slated for Tuesday (March 25) in Drumheller.
