Brian McKeever and guide Erik Carleton extended their unbeaten streak to four with a pair of IPC gold medals in Oberstdorf, Germany, while sit-skier Chris Klebl claimed his second gold of the year on Sunday (Jan. 19).

Brian McKeever and guide Erik Carleton extended their unbeaten streak to four with a pair of IPC gold medals in Oberstdorf, Germany, while sit-skier Chris Klebl claimed his second gold of the year on Sunday (Jan. 19).

McKeever and Carleton won gold in the 20 kilometre skate race and 10 km classic, where they clocked a time of 25:02.7.

“The skis were amazing and the wax techs made racing easy today,” McKeever said in a news release. “My fitness is there and I am feeling great with where things are right now.”

McKeever narrowly missed out on a trip to the Sochi Winter Games after two strong trials races in Canmore last week. McKeever won the 15 km classic race, but was too far back of winner Graeme Killick in the 30 km skiathlon. McKeever, 34, was the first athlete to congratulate Killick after the race and now said he’ll focus on the Paralympic games.

Russia’s Nikolay Polukhin and Andrey Tokarav finished second, 35 seconds behind McKeever and Carleton.

Klebl showed great form in his win, where he posted a 10 km time of 23:34.7 in extremely wet conditions.

All of Klebl’s victories have come in wet conditions. Maksym Yarovyi of Ukraine won the silver medal.

Mark Arendz finished sixth in the men’s 10 km standing race.
