Emiko Osborne and Neo Gleason won three gold medals apiece at the Alberta Summer Games, Ty Godfrey brought home a pair of gold medals and Reed Godfrey, Kelsey Slemko and Isobel Hendry each earned their own gold medals in Airdrie.

Bow Valley Riptide swimmers Osborne and Gleason won 10 medals in total at the games, with Osborne taking the 200, 400 and 800 metre freestyle gold medals. Her time of 10:42.23 was a Riptides club record. Gleason took gold in the 100, 400 and 800 freestyle, silver in the 50m and 200 free, and bronze in the 50m freestyle.

“I’m really pleased with their results. They listened well, worked hard and it paid off,” said Riptides coach Don Tremblay.

To no one’s surprise, local mountain bikers faired extremely well in Airdrie. Kelsey Slemko, Reed and Ty Godfrey won the team relay event, where they beat out fellow teammates Eva Poidevin, Sam Hendry and Kyle Burt. The Canmore team of Logan Sadesky and Isobel Hendry also finished fourth in the event.

In individual races, Isobel Hendry won gold and Poidevin won bronze in the 12-14 year old female cross-country mountain bike competition. Sadeskey won silver on the men’s side.

Slemko won silver in the 15 to 17 year old female cross-country mountain bike race, while Ty and Reed Godfrey took the top two spots in the men’s cross-country mountain bike competition.

On the water, the Bow Valley picked up another eight paddling medals. Eli Chilton won three medals, while Lucas Hornyansky, Daniel Tully, Matthew Tully, Zachary Goulet and Cole Oruski also picked up hardware.

The Canmore team of Jack Davis and Noah Nadal finished fourth in the team handball men’s tournament, while Noah Arvisais and Matthew Price were members of the Zone 2 men’s soccer team, which finished eighth. Track athlete Anna Sellers had her best race in the 2,000m, where she finished eighth.
