National Ski Day to support Alpine Canada programs

Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) encourages Canadians to get outside and onto the slopes on Jan. 9, 2016, for the second annual Sport Chek National Ski Day, presented by CIBC.

This annual national event looks to introduce and promote the sport of skiing to more Canadians by offering an affordable way to enjoy the activity, as well as Canadianwinter. From British Columbia to Newfoundland, participating resorts are welcoming Canadians to click into their skis and embrace the snow for a day on the slopes, all while supporting Canadian ski team athletes.

On National Ski Day, participating resorts will offer Canadians lift tickets for just $15, redeemable on Jan. 9. The day is about encouraging Canadians to get outside with friends and family and enjoy a favourite Canadian pastime that embodies the spirit and energy found within the DNA of our country.

Proceeds from lift tickets sales will be donated to Alpine Canada Alpin, supporting the organization’s high-performance programming for its Olympic, Paralympic and world championship athletes and teams.

“National Ski Day is the perfect opportunity for Canadians to take part in a celebration of our sport, support our national ski teams, and enjoy the incredible Canadian landscape our ski resorts are located within,” said Mark Rubinstein, president and CEO of Alpine Canada Alpin.

Resort partners participating in the Sport Chek National Ski Day, presented by CIBC are Panorama Mountain Resort, B.C., Nakiska, Holiday Mountain, Man., Blue Mountain, Ont., Horseshoe Valley, Ont., Stoneham Mountain Resort, Que, Mont Farlagne, NB and Marble Mountain Ski Resort, Nfld.
