Canadian Olympic gold medallists Jennifer Jones and Brad Jacobs have earned berths in the finals of the Pinty's All-Star Curling Skins Game event at the Banff Curling Club, Sunday (Jan. 18).
In semifinal action Saturday (Jan. 17), Jacobs and his Ontario foursome defeated Manitoba's Mike McEwen $12,500 to $8,500, while Jones defeated Edmonton's Carey Chelsea by the same amount.
The victories by the Olympians now set up Sunday finals which will be broadcast nationally on TSN. Total money available for the Pinty's events is $200,000, split between the men and women.
In the women's game at 1 p.m., Jones will take on Ontario's Rachel Homan foursome, winners of the 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts/Canadian champions, and world silver medallists. Homan defeated Alberta's Val Sweeting $11,000 to $10,000 on Friday.
For the men, at 6 p.m., Jacobs faces Alberta's John Morris, who is skipping a new team that will appear at this year's Brier/Canadian championships as the first Team Canada for the event. On Saturday, Morris stole $19,000 in the eighth end from McEwen for his berth in the final.
