The unstoppable Emiko Osborne led the Bow Valley Riptides with a pair of provincial silver medals from the 2015 Speedo Age Group and Senior Championships in Edmonton last weekend.

Osborne struck silver in the 100 metre and 200m Freestyle race in the 11-12-year-old girls category. Osborne swam the 200m in 2:18.17, and 1:04.26 in the 100m, which helped the Riptides finish third overall in the small team category for the third year in a row.

Osborne also set a new club record in the 200m medley, in what has been an excellent breakout season for the young swimmer. She also just missed the podium in the 400m free and 800m free, recording fourth-place finishes in those disciplines.

Several other club members also progressed at the competition, which drew 740 of the best swimmers in the province to Edmonton’s Kinsmen Centre. Domenic Griesser reached his first provincial finals and finished eighth in the 50m breaststroke, and 10th in the 100m breaststroke.

Neo Gleason moved on to the later rounds in the 200m fly, 200m back and 100m fly. He won the B final in the 200m fly, finishing ninth overall.

Rachel Olson made her first provincial A final with a strong performance in the 200m breast with a seventh-place finish, and Kianna Worobey finished 11th in the 800m freestyle.

The club pushed hard at the meet, as is evident by the nine club records the Riptides shattered. Gleason broke three of his own club records in the 200m backstroke, 100m and 200m fly and Olson marked her spot in club history with new records in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

The group also combined for six new relay records, with strong team efforts from Avi Lamb, Cassidy Behm, Alex Neilson, Marin Williams and Riley Toohey.
