If you’re looking for something a little different, entertainment-wise, this weekend, Seth Anderson has just the thing for you.

After a year’s hiatus, the Canmore folk rock singer-songwriter is re-launching his Get The Folk On The Bus event, Saturday (Sept. 16).

The Bus gig will see music aficionados picked up at Canmore’s Miners’ Union Hall, bused to the Exshaw Legion for a show with Anderson and the Oxytocins, with Rake Job opening, and returned.

“It was a fun event in 2015,” said Anderson. “We had full buses and it was a good show. Everyone had a good time. It’s a good way to get people out to see some local bands.”

The 2015 event also featured local band Elk Run & Riot, while this year, newly formed Rake Job, Jake Gordon and Robbie Johnson, will open with their blend of country/mountain music. The Oxytocins include Anderson (guitar, vocals), Gavin Boutett (drums), Pat Cloutier (upright bass) and Evan Resnik (guitar).

“It was awesome playing at the Legion,” he said. “They love having it (gig) and the community likes live music, so it’s a win. We have 92 seats on the two buses and the legion holds 150.

“After the flood, we (band) decided we wanted to do something for the com munity, and our shows in Canmore were awesome, but we wanted to take it to the people and a friend in Exshaw suggested the legion.

“It’s nice to have locals, with local bands, and there are always great up and coming bands in the valley. And the short documentary from last time is about being on the bus, life in Canmore and the community here.”

The bus will leave the Miners’ Hall at 7 p.m., and people will load back on the bus in Exshaw at 11:30 p.m.

Tickets are $30 for bus and show, or $15 for show only, and available at www.sethandersonmusic.com, Exshaw Legion and S+S Custom Automotive.

Immediately after the Legion event, Anderson will head south to the western U.S. for the first time before heading east for a few gigs and a festival in Gainesville, Florida.

In the U.S. he’ll work solo while travelling with an independent Israeli artist.

“I’m excited to see some new places and new people,” he said.
