Fish and Wildlife had to shoot “several” cougars at Silvertip.
Again, dogs being attacked and/or killed by cougars while running around off leash, the same old story.
What more does it take for F&W (and/or bylaw officers) to finally enforce the law and hand out fines for having one’s dog off leash? Do we have to eliminate all cougars coming close to town and/or or wait until one of us humans is attacked by a big cat?
As long as there is no meaningful law enforcement human and/or dog-wildlife conflicts will be escalating.
Good public education in human versus wildlife conflict avoidance and handing out mostly warnings is obviously not good enough. Unfortunately, there seems to be a segment of the population that simply does not get the message without getting nailed with a hefty fine really hurting their wallets.
