OK with heli noise

To Mayor Ron Casey and council.

I have lived in Canmore for many years in the neighbourhood of Grotto Mountain Village and have enjoyed every minute of it – this includes the noise from the highway, the noise from the trains, and the noise from the helicopters.

I understand the realities of living in the modern world and would never consider the unfairness of singling out the train traffic or the highway traffic or the helicopter traffic as far as the lack of perceived ‘peace and tranquility’ in someone’s life is concerned.

We have raised our children in this great community and have watched them all graduate from high school and have been thankful for the huge role that the tourism industry has played in our lives. Our jobs, and the jobs of many of the residents of this community, have been and always will be directly connected to the tourism industry.

The positive experience of tourists, as they visit this area, is absolutely critical to the recommendation they will give when they return home to others and the likelihood of their return to this area.

I firmly believe that Alpine Helicopters, and companies like them, are an integral part of this experience that tourists choose to experience. We live really close to their hangers and their flight paths and have never been bothered by the noise – we understand the importance of companies like this and appreciate the role they play in making our community as viable as it is.

Marty Bronsch,

Canmore
