Woman killed in two-vehicle collision near Morley

A 53-year-old Fort Saskatchewan woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1A near Morley Road Friday night, police said.

MORLEY – A 53-year-old Fort Saskatchewan woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1A near Morley Road Friday night, police said.

RCMP said an SUV was travelling west on Highway 1A when it crossed the yellow centre line and collided head on with a motorcycle travelling east.

The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene of the collision.

Cochrane RCMP and Cochrane Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene. STARS air ambulance was also called to the scene, but were stood down when they were no longer medically required, STARS manager of external relations and marketing Deb Tetley said in an email.

The RCMP’s collision reconstructionist team is on scene and police said the investigation is ongoing.
