One person died in a house fire Sunday morning on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, according to the Nakoda Emergency Management and Services.

Mark Tkacz is the third Bow Valley resident seeking the provincial NDP nomination for the constituency of Banff-Kananaskis, joining Canmore residents Sarah Elmeligi and Gavin McCaffrey.

Banff has three active COVID-19 cases while Canmore has seven. In the MD of Bighorn, 15 people currently have COVID-19.

“The response has been incredible. I’ve heard it’s promoting community engagement and encouraging people to stop and look at them, but also talk with one another about the art as they walk the trail which is the main point of the project to encourage engagement."

“We believe that education is another way to contribute to a strong community, and we hope to create an environment where culturally aware learning and services can be provided to children and youth. Other than our tutoring program, I don’t believe there is other tutoring offered here. Outside the community, of course, there’s the Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area which is a great organization. We also wanted to do something here."
