“Data shows we had very heavy congestion and gridlock from about 2 to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday due to high volume coming into town in a short period of time. When that concentration of vehicles happens, rather than being spread out through the day, we do get very high congestion and traffic delays.”

EDITORIAL: The future of vehicles will be electric. Though polarizing and seemingly far off, through legislation and policy by governments from across the world it’s not a matter of if but when the majority of drivers will have an electric vehicle.

Lake Louise got so busy Sunday (Aug. 6) the Banff National Park hot spot had to be briefly shut off to most of the public.

A fire ban has been put in place for Kootenay and Yoho national parks.

“I think putting the mountain towns together – particularly the two that are in national parks and the one that is adjacent – there’s a chance for those combined voices to have more impact with respect to representation and accountability.”

“Off-highway vehicle use in the Bighorn Backcountry damages soil and vegetation, reduces water quality in the headwaters of the North Saskatchewan River, and destroys and degrades fish habitat."

The province is in the midst of its annual wildfire season and the Bow Valley is no exception.

“We haven’t found any more northern crayfish in the Bow or anywhere else that we’ve looked."

“I think it’s really disappointing and it’s sad that the government couldn’t step up to provide this increased funding for Alpine Canada."

“When we’re in extreme, we have fire crews that are on standby 24 hours, including a fire duty officer that's there to respond to any smoke reports that we receive from the public and or staff,” said Jane Park, fire and vegetation specialist for Banff National Park.
