A fire ban has been put in place for Kootenay and Yoho national parks.

“I think putting the mountain towns together – particularly the two that are in national parks and the one that is adjacent – there’s a chance for those combined voices to have more impact with respect to representation and accountability.”

The MD’s Municipal Planning Commission approved the Cliff Resort project located at 150 1st Avenue, consisting of 25 visitor accommodations, retail units and a restaurant, plus indoor and outdoor amenities on the main floor, with up to 65 flexible accommodations on the two upper floors.

The province is in the midst of its annual wildfire season and the Bow Valley is no exception.

“Although I know a bridge will happen over this creek at some point, we’re at a spot right now where rushing to build this bridge may not be the best thing for the community in the long term.”

“So far, what’s been going on is we’re looking into the initial factors. We’re conducting interviews, gathering info about the aircraft, trying to piece together what the sequence of events was early on.”
