“The Green Party has always been a vessel advocating to change the political arena to be healthier and to be more democratic and not be afraid to work across party lines. When faced with disaster, when faced with crises or hardships as a riding, province or a country, I think being able to collaborate and cooperate is what drives economics and solutions.”

With federal election voting day just a few weeks away, Sarah Zagoda has announced she is looking to secure the Banff-Airdrie riding for the New Democratic Party (NDP).

“The system is broken, there is certainly corruption in all major parties. The basic ability of an MP to represent his constituents is gone. Everybody kind of knows that if you don’t do the bidding of the leader of your party, your career is going to be a short one. The people who have been a long time are there because they’ve learned how to be quiet, how to keep their heads low and how to kind of play the Ottawa game. I think people are sick of it."

Voters in the Bow Valley had their chance to hear from local candidates in the lead-up to the Sept. 20 federal election.

“I have worked with almost all of the major parties, both provincially and federally. What is concerning to me is the disconnect between the bureaucracies of government and the political platforms and policies people hear during election time.”

EXSHAW – A trio of projects totalling about $15 million were added to the five-year capital plan for the MD of Bighorn to begin work on a financial plan. They include a new operations shop for $6.2 million, $4.67 for the Exshaw Fire Hall and $4.5 million for the administration building.

“We as a community already have many safety concerns with regards to the increased usage of Sandy Beach by non-local residents and feel allowing commercial operations to continue running and/or commuting through, parking or loading/unloading in our neighbourhood or the promotion of such would greatly exaggerate already existing concerns."
