After Monday’s (July 21) council meeting in Banff, we here at the Outlook, much like many Banff residents, no doubt, can’t wait until the next municipal election in 2017.

We hope many Bow Valley residents, and even Albertans, are eagerly awaiting the release of the final South Saskatchewan Regional Plan from the provincial government soon.

Interesting, isn’t it, how certain issues just keep on cropping up. Take our bears, for instance.

Our national parks, including the Crown jewel of Banff, may belong to all Canadians, but information about them clearly belongs to the Stephen Harper conservative government.

Eerie. How else would you describe the manner in which southern Alberta is once again being inundated with torrential rains? This time, though, our Bow Valley has yet to be affected, though we have had heavy rainfall warnings in effect.

In our Bow Valley, it sometimes seems, little is done in municipal politics without a study or survey or pilot project being launched as a first step in a process.

Under the altered heading “how not to win friends and influence council” could be listed those who approached Canmore council in regard to the old daycare site, Tuesday (June 3).

Refreshing, isn’t it, when oftentimes a young person’s outlook on life gives us pause to look beyond our own hectic adult lives and see things with an enlightened perspective.

When it comes to parking in Banff, you have to feel some sympathy for Town administration.
