Golden-Field RCMP received two alerts from emergency satellite communication devices earlier this week – one for cliffed out skiers and another for snowmobile fatality

“Consistently throughout my career, if you go out to find impaired drivers, you will sadly find impaired drivers.”

“Officers attended and determined that the suspect vehicle had struck two vehicles, one of which was a Town of Banff pickup truck."

UPDATED: This person has been located safe, according to an RCMP news release. 

“There are some signs of positivity in Banff in that we do have crimes against persons going down slightly; it’s very slight,” said Staff Sgt. Mike Buxton-Carr, detachment commander for Banff RCMP.

“If you think of the RCMP getting called to one-third of total response calls … that gives you an idea of the bigger picture.”

“RCMP use public input from town halls to set and adjust future policing priorities."

“There’s been fatalities over the years with people not slowing down quick enough and having struck pedestrians in that area. It was a concern for school kids and pedestrians crossing the road.”

As the Bow Valley begins its first day in 2024, it’s good to look back one last time on the previous year.
