St. Albert recorded two new cases, no new deaths

RCMP charged the man, who was travelling from Alaska to the U.S., with failing to follow the rules to isolate set out in the Quarantine Act when he stayed overnight in Banff.

Thousands of Albertans working on the frontlines during the pandemic will receive a one-time $1,200 payment from the government.

Despite cold storage requirements of -80 C for the Pfizer vaccine and-20 C for Moderna, there has been no spoilage due to temperature.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the chief medical officer of health, said two of the new cases have potentially exposed two Calgary zone schools.

"While our cases and hospitalizations are trending down, we still have work to do," said Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw on Monday (Feb. 1). "We have reached a place where we should be able to further ease measures on Feb. 8, but we have seen cases fall and rise before."

The province released a plan Friday for the further easing of restrictions.

“This is a grim situation that seems to be getting worse every week," Shandro said.

The new variants have shown to have infections rates 30 to 50 per cent higher than the current strain of COVID-19.
