With the new vaccine roll out strategy, the provincial government expects everyone in Alberta over the age of 18 to have their first dose by the end of June. 

"This change will significantly increase how quickly we can offer Albertans the protection of their first dose."

Effective immediately, libraries will be able to open at 15 per cent of their fire-code capacity, excluding staff, and low-intensity individual and group workouts for adults will be able to start up again. 

“This is a massive expansion for our province and a big step forward. If you're 74 and turning 75 this year, you are eligible for the vaccine." 

“We were actually very hopeful late last week that we were going to be able to report zero active cases today, but a few new cases were reported very late last week and through the weekend," said Silvio Adamo, the Town of Banff’s director of emergency management.

Age and chronic health conditions are the two biggest factors driving the Phase 2 roll out of the provincial vaccine plan in Alberta.

"Age is the single greatest factor for risk for COVID-19 mortality."
