Due to extreme cold in the Bow Valley and Alberta, three local ski hills have halted operations and one remains open with limited lift access.

“Temperatures will drop between minus 30 and minus 37 C tonight with wind chills as low as minus 48,” stated the warning. “Over the weekend, morning temperatures will reach minus 40 C in many areas. Wind chills will approach minus 50.”

“If we continue to do this in future and what we’re hearing is it’s going to be another dry, hot summer, spring and fall … we’re potentially going to have the opportunity to do this again.”
