Banff town council is reconvening its COVID-19 meeting at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday (May 4).

“With the very serious situation in our community, we urge everyone to follow the public health measures in place to stop the curve.”

“In both of our cases, both in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and ID9, we likely are somewhat under-reported as to what is actually the case on the ground."

“Hopefully, with luck, they will have more kits … she could be giving birth soon,” said Dan Rafla, a human-wildlife management specialist with Banff National Park.

"We are really happy about the age being reduced for us and for Wood Buffalo to 30; it will make a big difference and it is a very positive outcome for us," said Banff Mayor Karen Sorensen.

“Given the reality the pandemic will likely continue into the summer and possibly to continue to impact schools next year, we feel it is in the best interest of our staff and students to opt-out of this process. Though we know it is important to have our contributions heard, which is normally achieved through a piloting process, we do not want to introduce any additional pressures onto our students and professional staff next year."

“BLLHA is concerned Administration’s recommendation consider a tax rate bylaw based on 6.31:1 is occurring at a time when there is substantial economic uncertainty presenting across the entire commercial ecosystem,” said BLLHA executive director Darren Reeder

“We don’t want to have our guests get infected. We want people who come to Banff to take home a photograph, not to take home a virus," said Councillor Peter Poole.

The Canadian Rockies Youth Network will host their 2021 Summit online from May 12 – 14 and will provide a framework for youth discussion of environmental challenges of the shared mountain spaces.

“We all realize that policing, for many reasons, has been at the forefront, with very active and important discussion in our community and society throughout North America and throughout the world,” said Staff Sgt. Mike Buxton-Carr.
